He is sanguine about it. Just glad it didn't happen miles from anywhere
with dusk coming on. It may be that his travel insurance can ease the
pain a bit if extra expense is incurred. He can have another attempt,
perhaps in better weather. The wind probably didn't help, though it was
'following' at the time his ligament went. He thinks it may be because
his right leg is much stronger than his left - those years of
kickstarting a reluctant YZ450F, so more strain on his left or
something.

I did 10Kms on a bicycle this afternoon. A bit of both, but also use of
'Turbo' mode on the Haibike when even spinning wouldn't have kept me
moving aboard a 'push bike'.

Personally, I will be replenishing my stock of N95s and acquiring more
3M 'boat style' FFP3s for particularly dicey scenarios like hospital
clinics.

I have a rotation regime that means they can be reused a few times after
'resting' , as I never am wearing one for more than a couple of hours. A
luxury not open to those having to work all day in poorly ventilated
crowded workplaces.

As yet, I haven't experienced the abuse that some mask wearers have been
subjected to by the more extreme militant pandemic deniers. Perhaps it
is the silver hair and raddled features that make them think twice, or
the gimlet stare back in response to even the faintest sign of a smirk.
Should that become any kind of audible attack, then I swear I might end
up twatting them.

Flexible. Last 'plan' was the Thursday afternoon crossing getting in
21.00 but may be the Friday 05.30 - so 09.15.

Offer much appreciated. He may be able to arrange for a mate with a car
to pick him up. Should be finalising plans by tomorrow morning (train
back to Dieppe).

Back in the good old days we had a guards van, aways room for plenty of
bikes in that. :-)

Straight through, for many years we had a train from NewB to North
Wales,non of this switch at Bidston lark.

West Kirkby has always been the end of the line in my time, granted
there was a rail on what is now the Wirral Way, but that only went as
far as Hooton.

Ok, ta. I've walked much of the Wirral Way and need to do the Hooton end
of things sometime. I got sidetracked (!) by finding out it had a
colliery branch from Neston to Little Neston where there was a mine
which carried coal *by underground canal* actually under the Dee!
I still find that conceptually mind blowing.

They did a fair bit of mining wayy out to sea at Point of Ayr
