If you want fresh unused atoms then you'll have to go and harvest
some Hawking radiation from a black hole and cool it down enough to
combine the electrons and protons, just be careful to keep it separate from
the infall (and don't ask me how). Given the time dilation factor down
there if you leave now you might be back in time to see the sun go red
giant - either that or find a way to make a quantum black hole in the lab
but the Hawking radiation tends to come out a bit too swiftly to capture
from those - think very big fusion bomb and work up.

Following on from sorting authors, I'm also building up a
spreadsheet of maps. One of the fields is the scale.
Does anybody know how to format Excel cells so that the
scale is sorted properly, ie:
1:7,500
1:9,000
1:15,000
1:16,500
1:25,000
1:50,000
1:250,000
instead of:
1:15,000
1:16,500
1:25,000
1:250,000
1:50,000
1:7,500
1:9,000

I can find advice on how to calculate a ratio between cells
and then do text replacement in a third cell, but that destroys
the entire point of having *one* field for the scale, you end
up with:
1,2500,=thing(X1/X2),=greptypething(X3,longgrepstring)
to get
1,2500,1/2500,1:2500
when I just want
1:2500
or ideally
1:2,500

My 1d's worth, for what it is worth. There may well be better ways.

You could display the 1:x column but sort on a hidden column that has
1:x calculated as 1 divided by x.

If you have spurious characters in a cell Excel can't use numeric sorting so
it has to treat the contents as text. So it tries to sort it alphabetically.

If you just include the numeric consequent (7,500, 9,000 ...) and format the
cells as numbers it should sort correctly.

You can then use a custom format (1:#) to display as ratios.
