So you want your daughter practicing free and easy sex with anyone that comes down the boardwalk and then when she discovers that she cannot find happiness in such a manner becoming psychologically depressed which can lead to suicide? Is this the wonderful world you see or are you only interested in the ease of finding a new bang while your wife is looking the other way?

If you really intend to take advantage of that cultural shift, you'd better use a mouth dam at the very least, and preferably a full-body condom.

Contrary to all of the books and movies showing people screwing everything that moves, the majority of people are happily (well, more or less) married and or quite moral in their outlooks. Even in the Air Force I didn't know a single person in our squadron that frequented whorehouses.

I just watched a YouTube video about Guam. They said it was so American on Guam that you could not distinguish it from any other US suburb or state in the good old US of A. Shopping malls stuffed with your favorite American stores. USA dollars of course is the currency. It is 110% American on Guam. Except of course it is many thousands of miles away from the USA. Even Hawaii. Territory way over there in the Pacific Ocean. Used as a military base to spy on those evil Chinese and Vietnamese and Philippines and whoever else is evil over there. And I think all the Guam people are official USA citizens like Puerto Rico. But have zero representation in the government. Just like Washington DC.

What exactly does bearing false witness against your neighbor mean? You can't lie about your neighbor? Immediate next door neighbor, but not the one two houses down. So for Tommy, since none of us are his immediate neighbor, Thank all the Gods!!!!! He thinks he can in good conscience lie to all of us. And be sin free, if that matters to him. But Jeff lives in California like Tommy. So maybe if you expand that neighbor thing a bit, Jeff might be Tommy's neighbor. And when Tommy commits lies against Jeff, he is breaking the vows or laws or clauses. Tommy is a sinner when he lies to Jeff..

Back in the day... pre Vietnam Days, it was considered by most of the
Air Force as being a hardship assignment. I may be wrong... it has
been a long time... but I think I remember that it was only a 1 year
tour.
The Guamanians were not particularly friendly, probably from being
exposed to the Military and as a result women were essentially
unobtainable.

Tommy, by the way, was only there on Temporary Duty for a relatively
short length of time.

But, of course, it has all changed and I believe it is now a resort
location.

Along those lines I worked with a bloke who, back in 1945, or
thereabouts, bought some property on Guam thinking that maybe he might
retire there. He paid something like $1,000 for a swatch of beach
front. I worked with him in about 1973 - 4 and he showed me a letter
from a Japanese Hotel chain offering to buy his property for
$250,000.... he didn't sell :-) I was nagging him about not taking
$250,000 and he said that well, he was doing all right at the present
(High Voltage Electrician, working overseas) and it wouldn't get any
cheaper by the time he decided to retire.

Like most things from history it is subject to interpretation. As an
example, the oldest known written copy of the Commandments, on a
tablet of stone, says "thou shall not commit murder" while many modern
Christian Bibles say "thou shall not kill". Perhaps subtle but a
difference never the less.

Not the only instance.
The King James version is a marvel of beautiful writing,
much quoted throughout our culture, high and low. That said
there are a great many translational 'oopsies' the
difference between 'kill' and 'murder' being probably the
most frequently noted.

Joseph is described in the earliest extant Greek versions as
a 'teknos', a person who makes things or directs the making
of things (as opposed to general labor). The KJV learned
assembly used 'carpenter', a common vocation in England in
1600 but rare in a place with few trees such as Israel.

I beg to differ. (I'm splitting hairs here a bit; since you capitalized Commandments I assume you intend to refer to the classic Ten, rather than the 624 total. If not you can weasel out) The Ten Commandments say neither murder nor kill.

We know there was something called the Ten. We get our Sunday School versions of the Ten from Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5. However, if you actually look these up, you will notice something strange. First, nowhere do they claim to be the Ten. Second, there is no easy way to get Ten separate commandments out of either text. It just doesn't line up that way. Give them to someone not familiar, and usually they'll see 14 to 19. Try it yourself.

However, there IS one place in the Old Testament that specifically lists the Ten Commandments and makes the claim. Unfortunately Exodus 34 doesn't contain the usual Ten, other than not making idols and honoring the Sabbath. This is sometimes called the Ritual Decalogue. When Ten Commandments is referred to in scripture, it is always the ritual Ten and not the modern Sunday School Ten.

Uh, I hope you know that not too long ago the recovered stone tablets of Moses were found and recent sold for $850,000. There were supposedly ten commandments on it. Rather weather worn but you cannot invent your own religion..

Well, The Christian Bible... and I believe the Jewish holy books and
the Islamic holy book all contain reference to an set of orders that
The God of Abraham gave to the Israelites after they had left Egypt
which in modern times are usually described as the "Ten Commandments"

Exodus 20:1-26 in the English Standard Version seem pretty clear
although you are correct they can be twisted to appear to be more then
10.

As an example, the last commandment "You shall not covet your
neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his
male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or
anything that is your neighbor's.”

Which could, I suppose, be interpreted to be 7 separate commandments
although they could equally be interpreted as one - "do not covet what
belongs to others"

No Tommy, you got it wrong yet again. the original stone tablets
carried down from the mountain were lost to the Israelites, probably
during the Roman occupation of Israel.

"Oopsie" is the wrong word because some of the translation errors were
almost certainly intentional, the Hebrew עַלְמָה (young woman of child
bearing age) being mistranslated into "virgin" being one of the most
intentional errors. See

<sigh> No, Tom, those were not the ones Moses brought down the mountain.
Nobody has ever claimed they were.

Your wild claims continue to amaze. How can one man be so ignorant?

Up until I was about 60 years old, I had difficulties obtaining dates
and maintaining relationships. I wasn't sure what women were looking
for, but I knew it wasn't me.

At 60, something changed and women were now chasing me. What I think
changed was that many couples were divorced or husbands had died
resulting in a fair number of unattached women shopping for husbands.
I still don't know what women were looking for, but the senior version
is probably some combination of financial stability, intelligence,
able to do things, no mental problems, no drugs, no booze, no tattoos,
no abuse, no recent jail time, no former wives, no overly dependent
children, etc. Oddly, they seem to think that I fit the template. So,
I've been careful and so far haven't caught any unwanted bugs.

Originally, that's probably what it meant. There was one's tribe, and
there was everyone else. What one did to or for the tribe, might be
quite different from what they did to or for someone else. This is
somewhat illustrated by the Arab view of hospitality. A traveler
coming across the desert is afforded the best hospitality which
incidentally might include sexual favors from the women. However,
when the traveler leaves the hosts tent, walks across the desert, and
again runs into the former host, the traveler runs into a fair chance
of getting robbed. Why? Because the law only extends to the
immediate vicinity and situation. This makes no sense to those used
to western interpretations, but makes quite a bit of sense in terms of
nomadic traders, who consider their reputation as a perfect host for
visitors important, because the visitor will spread the word of their
generosity.

[Q] What's the difference between a bribe and a commission?
[A] A bribe is paid in advance. A commission afterwards.
This is a key part of doing business in the middle east. Everything
requires what we call a bribe. What's happening is that these traders
were once nomadic, and could and would disappear on very short notice.
A business transaction where payment to the middleman was made after
the transaction was completed was useless. Both parties would
disappear and the middleman would never be paid. Instead, custom
demands that the middleman receive his bribe in advance to insure
payment.

Tom is not from my tribe and is therefore not my neighbor. If he was
related or part of an extended family, things might be different.

Have you noticed that I don't react to Tom's insults? I see no need
to do so. Nobody believes Tom so there's no danger to my reputation.
He could scream his insults to the wind for all I care. There's

<frkrygow@sbcglobal.net> wrote:

How? It's actually quite simple. Tom wants attention and making
mistakes intentionally, accidentally, or due to lack of competence
works best for gaining attention. If Tom has correctly noted that a
tablet made in 400 to 600 AD was sold at auction, nobody would have
noticed or commented. However, if he attached an outlandish claim,
many people would predictably offer corrections. This particular
claim offered an indication that my guess(tm) is correct. Tom knew
the exact amount ($850,000) for which the tablet was sold. I don't
think he could have remembered such a detail from an event 6 years
previously:

"Ancient Ten Commandments tablet sold at auction for $850,000" (2016)
<https://www.cnbc.com/2016/11/17/ancient-ten-commandments-tablet-sold-at-auction-for-850000.html>
"It likely adorned the entrance of a synagogue that was destroyed by
the Romans between A.D. 400 and 600, or by the Crusaders in the 11th
century..."

Therefore, he probably had an online article mentioning the sale of
the item in front of him. The announcement of the sale is quite short
and I can assume he read the full article. Therefore, the addition of
the ribbish that it was the original "tablets from Moses" had to be
intentional. This might also be the reason why he chronically refuses
to cite his sources. If he did cite a source, and it didn't contain
the rubbish about the original "tablets of Moses", it would be
sufficient proof that Tom had added it.
