Certainly nothing new about poor dealer service.

My Warrant Officer brother has a low opinion of US Military, "poorly
trained and poorly disciplined", "an Australian Private is better
trained than a US Sargent", "10 Aussie Diggers are worth 100 US GI's".
Only good thing he says about them is that they have the best and latest
equipment and lots of it.

Those reviews are from people using it to polish metal, nothing there
about using it to polish plastic headlamps.

There are a few exceptions but 99% correct.
IMHO its not a good business model, better to make less money, do a good
job at a reasonable price and keep the customers coming back.

> Didn't you just say "The training regime for tradespeople in the US army
> would be second to none"?

Point 1, the army training scheme is not an apprenticeship.
Point 2, most *mechanics* in the US just learn *on the job* with
typically no formal training and no apprenticeship as we know it.
Point 3, Some mechanics sign up for courses at private tech colleges.
Point 4, not every mechanic in the US does their mechanical training in
the army. In fact *most* don't.
Point 5, some companies, ie. Chamberlain John Deere, have excellent
training regimes, including in-depth resource material, albeit product
oriented. Used them myself for developing learning resources.
Point 6, army mechanic training resource materials are *very*
comprehensive and cover basic principles such as hydraulics and
electrical very well.
Point 7, If you are OS working in oil or mining, you will find mechanics
from Australia and the UK in abundance. This is because mechanics who
have done a full apprenticeship are much more flexible than US mechanics
who are much more vertically specialised.
Point 8, That US specialisation can be extreme. Ie. a mechanic
specialised on Cummins may not be able to work on GM diesels because
their training only involved a 6 or 12 week course only on the one
engine type and was not readily transferable to other types. My diesel
training, OTOH, covered all types of diesel engines, all types of fuel
systems, all forms of supercharging and all types of governors. Even
included *overhaul*, *testing* and calibration of all types of pumps and
injector systems. Very comprehensive.
Point 9, Because of point 8, most diesel mechanics on rigs are Aussies
and Poms.

If it won't polish metal, why would it polish polycarbonate any better?
FWIW, part of the Brasso polishing regime is due to acidic action on the
metal. Is that a good thing to have going on with *polycarbonate*?

This is precisely the point. They *already* have the people there
because the overwhelming majority of new car owners think they're
obligated to go to the dealer for logbook serving in order to maintain
their warranty. Of course, you and I know that they don't, but dealers
will never tell you that. In fact, some will go out of their way to give
the impression that you *have* to return to the dealership for all your
servicing needs despite this not being the case.

I don't blame the dealerships, as I'm quite sure any other business that
had such a captive audience would behave in exactly the same way, but it
is people's own ignorance that creates the situation of the very place
they *think* they need to take their car to be serviced is the worst
place they can go.

Very interesting but nothing to do with "The training regime for

Great Big Lol!

That'd be "hearsay" Fraudster. Do you remember your absolutely hilarious
attempt to debunk someone's contrary claim to yours by braying that it was
"hearsay"? Almost certainly not, but I sure do. Here ya go Buffo! Read and
savour your impression of Rumpole of the Bailey. In your instance, better
known as Bumhole of Bumhole (Vic).

Der Der: For something to be considered "factual" it needs to be able to be
demonstrated to be true, and that doesn't apply in this case as the
"evidence" has not been demonstrated to everyone. The evidence has only
been demonstrated to *some* people, and their "say so" is being used as
confirmation of it being true.
In legal terms, this is called "hearsay".

alvey: At base, "hearsay" is repeating something that someone told you.
People giving an opinion on what they personally witnessed is, "in legal
terms", evidence. June 2018.
Just brilliant! You should be proud Der Der. Stupidity of this quality is
immortal.

alvey
As ever, using nothing more than the simple words of a *really* simple man.

those who think a single engined light plane can land on 100m of runway
missing a wing
those who ask if a video, apparently from a game, showing a massive

those who drive their Sprite Mk2a down Geelong Rd, went past an accident

In the case of Brasso the Brasso shills are easy to spot, they are the
very few that give the product 5 stars when everyone else has the same
complaints.

Plus the reviews for Brasso turned sour after they changed the
formula... do you think that is just a coincidence?
Buy hey it and try it for yourself... you'll soon find that it no longer
works.
