>Yes the changing economy of the world changed slavery. According to Google, 1803 Denmark Norway stopped trading in slaves. Not sure if that means they outlawed it in Denmark Norway or not. Maybe that was just the start to abolish it and the current slaves could still be kept as slaves. 1834 Britain abolished slavery in all its dominion. 1847 France abolished slavery in all its colonies. I'm guessing also in France proper too. Even the USA banned the importation of slaves beginning in 1808. Current and newly bred slaves were not impacted of course. But even by 1808, the slave promoters in the USA knew slavery was not popular.

Maybe that was just the start to abolish it and the current slaves could still be kept as slaves. 1834 Britain abolished slavery in all its dominion. 1847 France abolished slavery in all its colonies. I'm guessing also in France proper too. Even the USA banned the importation of slaves beginning in 1808. Current and newly bred slaves were not impacted of course. But even by 1808, the slave promoters in the USA knew slavery was not popular.

The exits of business and monied individuals from NYC is equal only to that of California under Gavin Loathsome. Why would you purposely drive your only sources of revenue out of your city while promising your homeless and criminal class everything they ever wanted for free? But all the countries in Europe ended slavery without a civil war and killing hundreds of thousands. Their governments, people, just decided no more slavery. I'd condemn a country so stupid as to kill off three quarters of a million people for a foolish cause. That is one of the good things about history. We can look back and judge what actions were right or wrong. And then hopefully not repeat the wrong decisions. One would hopefully, but maybe not, think the fools down in Texas who want to secede would look back at how the Civil War resolved itself. Or the people up in Montreal who want to break away from Canada and form "French Speaking Only Canada". But maybe those people don't believe in learning from history.

Re "poles". I had a good friend that did financial studies for various
companies and as part of these studies did design and conduct polls to
determine things like (one I remember) should Singer sell
refrigerators "up country" with time payments as they did sewing
machines.

Anyway, were discussing polls one day and he stated, "Tell me what you
want to prove and I'll design a poll to prove it".

Since then I have never paid a lot of intention to "polls".

Maybe that was just the start to abolish it and the current slaves could still be kept as slaves. 1834 Britain abolished slavery in all its dominion. 1847 France abolished slavery in all its colonies. I'm guessing also in France proper too. Even the USA banned the importation of slaves beginning in 1808. Current and newly bred slaves were not impacted of course. But even by 1808, the slave promoters in the USA knew slavery was not popular.

>Yes. I am aware of that fact. Thomas Jefferson also had slaves. But that is more well known since he purportedly had sex and or babies with at least one of his slaves. Kind of funny, the left half of Mt. Rushmore were slave owners. The one on the far right freed the slaves. And the other one killed African big game animals.
