We were talking about the rules being bent, as they frequently are,
and that includes both the quarantine rules, administered by the
states, as well as the issuing of visas by the feds.

The connection to Djokovic, in case it isn't obvious, is the inclusion
of sporting heroes and their hangers on with the notable exception of
Djokovic himself but including those who'd also been issued with visas
(on the basis of medical exemptions) that weren't revoked by Border
Security at the airport.

The Federal Court has now ruled he was unfairly discriminated against
and Government politicians have egg on their faces, there being no
failure to provide requested documentation as originally reported by

The Happy Clapper's response is that the rules are clear, backed by
his deputy who says visa applicants have to be double vaccinated and
another who claims medical exemptions only apply to those who can't be
vaccinated at the time.... If they seriously believe their own spin
let them appeal the court ruling but my guess is they won't because
even if they win we're likely to find out who issued the directive to
sink the boots into Djokovic and possibly how many visas have
previously been issued to anti-vaxxers.

Of course there's also the option of having the Minister for
Immigration revoke the visa which normally carries a three year ban on
re-entering the country. My guess is that won't happen either as
it'll show them up as sore losers even if the ban is dispensed with.

It's also been suggested they could enter into an arrangement with
Djokovic which allows him to play tennis and would no doubt be
conditional upon him not suing them for damages and probably include a
couple of token restrictions under the pretext of looking out for
public health.

the country of his own accord, subsequently taking his revenge by
campaigning internationally for the long term detainees who have
nowhere else to go.

miserably.

I haven't been out to get the paper yet this morning, but from what I
could make out on the nightly news last night the Judge's ruling seemed
to be about a point of law.

That's purely speculation and we won't know exactly what happened until
all the details are laid on the table.

Personally I think everyone associated with this affair has been
embarrassed enough and they won't want to push it any further, which is
wrong in and of itself if the rules *weren't* adhered to as they were
supposed to be.

He can do what he likes, but as the majority seem to see him as a

Yeah, apart from a willingness to blame the Federal government for
everything that happens, I really don't see how you can reach this
conclusion. We don't know anywhere near enough detail to know who to
rightly point the finger at, and the involvement in this affair at
Federal government level has been absolutely minimal.

It's not like there was a government campaign to block NoVax at the
border, or one to ensure he was packed off home once he was. It was
procedure carried out by officials that had nothing to do with politics.
