not entirely. arsehole Dictator Dan has kept his union mates working the

businesses and self employed people into the ground and sending business
bust

the recent protests about the lockdowns and mandatory vaccinations are
entirely justified and peaceful. a lot of people here are very angry. I
had to prove I was double vaxxed just to shop in Kmart yesterday. and
kids are being totally stuffed around with their activities atm. the CHO
mandates rules without entire consideration of the implications and

We had fun in the old days (now sadly departed) running an old motor
mower on fuel mixes. We removed the muffler and fed the thing petrol
mixtures of trichloroethylene, benzene, sump oil, metho, paint etc
etc.
The idea was to get multi-coloured flames blasting out of the exhaust.
The old banger performed surprisingly well with all the abuse.

**No, they are not. I have no issue with anyone who doesn't want to be
vaccinated, PROVIDED they remain in their home at all times.
Anti-vaxxers are morons and are a potential drain on our taxpayer funded
medical system. As a taxpayer, I object to paying for the care of
morons. BTW: That objection extends to smokers too. However, vaccination
is quick, easy and entirely safe. Giving up smoking is far more difficult.

a lot of people here are very angry.

Yes they are. we live in a free society. some ppl have strong beliefs
about vaccinations, and some are medically unsuitable for vaccination.
with 90%+ vaccination rates it's not necessary for everyone to be
vaccinated

> I have no issue with anyone who doesn't want to be vaccinated,

so are obese persons who get diabetes, idiots who injure themselves in
car accidents, ppl who don't take good care of themselves and get sick,
etc., the health system is for everyone regardless of the cause of the need

it's not that difficult if you're sufficiently motivated

Europe is a continent and if you had been out a bit more than you
obviously have you would know parts of Europe have pretty piss-poor
public transort as well.

You really need to get out more if you think that is civilised.

Correct.

Parts of Europe are pretty piss-poor too and peak hour in London isn't
much fun either.

Clearly Daryl hasn't been anywhere, either that or he's walking around
in a stupor most of the time.

No they are not. Premier Mark McGowan, his family and his staff have
been threatened with violence and he gets jumped and accosted by these
dole bludgers everywhere he goes. These people aren't reasonable, and
the worst of them are fucking rabid nutcases.

Protesting is everyones right but not how they go about it.

Not even *remotely* close :)

I don't know what "protests" Felix is watching, but in Melbourne the
media has been full of pictures and video of *violent* protest with many
arrests being made.

> I have no issue with anyone who doesn't want to be
> vaccinated, PROVIDED they remain in their home at all times.

I'm in two minds about it. On the one hand I totally respect people's
rights to decide what they do with their own bodies and think that
compulsory vaccinations are pushing the boundaries of the government's
authorative powers, but at the same time I don't object to similar
social practices of "no jab no play" programs for unvaccinated children
attending day care centres. I'd probably also suggest that a fair
portion of those who are currently protesting *against* the Covid jab
have children themselves and complied with the "no jab no play" rule
without argument.

Object all you like, but you get zero say in how your tax contributions
are spent.

You and most of the rest of the world I think, but good luck trying to
do anything about that.

>> I had to prove I was double vaxxed just to shop in Kmart yesterday.

I haven't come anywhere yet that is actually checking people's
vaccination status, and it's a bit of a difficult area. Personally I
think it places a *lot* of stress on business staff, and I can just
imagine some innocent kid working the door at some department store
coping all kinds of abuse from fucked up munts who think they're being
discriminated against. It has the potential to get *real* ugly, and I
think the larger stores should be employing dedicated security staff for
such jobs.

I complained to my local council a couple of weeks ago about a Saturday
flea market at the local footy ground not having any QR check in
facilities in place. When I rang the council and complained the woman I
spoke to said it was an outdoor gathering and no QR facilities were
necessary. I told her that while that may be so for a family picnic in a
park, this was a dedicated public event at a dedicated and as such it
needed to have a QR check in procedure in place. Once she agreed to that
she changed her stance to declare that it wasn't within the council's
authority to demand that such practices be in place, and I suggested
that as the council was the "authority" who issued the permit for the
market in the first place I was pretty sure it was, and added that if
the council didn't want to act on this I would take it to the Department
of Health and see what they had to say.

Sure enough, there were QR check in notices in place last Saturday.

>  and

Yep. No one is exempt.

>  the CHO
>> mandates rules without entire consideration of the implications and
>> consequences

> **Prove it.

Felix is partially right, but not completely.

In a pandemic such as we currently find ourselves, the CHO has overall
authority regarding rules and regulations that need to be implemented as
far as public health is concerned, and the government cannot alter or
ignore them. They are law, which is why a charge of "ignoring a
directive of the Chief Health Officer" is a criminal offence.

Felix's claim that those rules and regulations are made "without
consideration" however is an utter nonsense, as the overriding
consideration in *every* order issued by the Chief Health Officer is the
health and safety of the general populace, and doing whatever is
necessary to minimise the effects of this pandemic and protect as many
people as possible. That means doing things that piss some people off
and they can't see the value in it themselves (which I have no doubt
Felix cannot), but the greater good is the main consideration at the
expense of some personal liberties.

What's happening in Victoria at the moment is that Premier Andrews is
attempting to push a bill through State Parliament that will take
overall authority for public health away from the CHO and place it
directly in the hands of the Premier while the Chief Health Officer is
relegated to an "advisory" role with the government having no obligation
to comply with any recommendation the CHO may issue.

If ever people in Victoria wanted to protest about anything, that should
be it.

It's also worth noting that many of the "protests" carried out in
Melbourne were done so at a time where a legal order was in effect
against public gatherings, making the protests themselves illegal.

You can't just declare something as being your "civil right" and expect
laws pertaining to it to automatically become null and void :)

Most likely, and people having a genuine medical exemption are not who
we're talking about.

Last time I checked the "population" included children, and you're never
going to get 100% of the population fully vaccinated. Most experts are
of the opinion that 90% is enough for Herd Immunity to be effective.

Indeed. The evidence of vaccinations being remarkably beneficial in
terms of both effect *and* transmission is overwhelming, and to claim
otherwise is an absolute nonsense.

That's true and most are probably peaceful.
It's their democratic right to protest and as long as they do it
peacefully and don't interfere with other people going about their
business I don't have a problem with it.

It's a stupid idea that serves no other purpose than the coercion of
the unvaccinated which only further increases their resistance to
vaccination.
Nor does it make either group any safer because sooner or later
everyone will be exposed to the the virus at which point many of the
unvaccinated are going to wish they had been. Lots of them will die
(as will a few of the vaccinated).
The only upside in delaying the inevitable would be to spread the rush
on the health system (if only it were possible to charge the
unvaccinated for any hospitalisation they might incur as a result).

Non compliance is the norm where I am, which also happens to be the
region with one of the lowest vaccination rates in the nation. Even
the local post office has no proper provision for social distancing
and no one polices it in any case.
When the virus does get here the government will have little other
choice than to lockdown down the LGA... which ought be obvious to all
but very few seem to give a stuff.

Actually they are being discriminated against on grounds of being idiots.

I am being discriminated against, CASA won't let me have a pilots
licence because I'm an insulin dependent diabetic, but I'm not marching
against their headquarters about it. If you live in a society, you have
to accept limitations.
